“We are very aware that the sacrifices we make will be worth it, because music is something we like very much and we want to give it everything. The moment you start playing, the nerve is replaced by adrenaline, and nothing else you are having fun.”

When they are about to start the conversation, one cannot believe that the Villarreal sisters are the same girls baptized as The warning, who on stage unleash an explosive mixture of rhythm, lyric, energy, magic, movement and precision. If you see them live and direct, they will transport you to sonic atmospheres where rock is revitalized with freshness, fun and quality.  You cannot take your eyes off them, because since they start playing their instruments, they steal your attention and can, in seconds, overcome the skepticism that women have no place in a gender popularized by male presence.

Daniela, Paulina and Alejandra don´t stop smiling and showing a simplicity, worthy of praise, since their fame and the acceptance of their recent material XXI Century Blood continues to increase. In Monterrey, Nuevo León, where they are from, they are known to perfection, and abroad their presence is demanded through hundreds of messages that on their social networks the followers of the band write every day: They ask them to go to Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Sweden, France. From the United States, other followers say that as soon as they have their documentation in order, they will travel to Mexico just to get the chance to meet  them. It is likely that someday these fans will see their wishes fulfilled, because The Warning is notoriously advancing.

At their young age, these  girls have already faced commitments that only experienced musicians could assume; The Warning have performed  like Opening Band for Def Leppard and The Killers; They have participated in the  Mother of All Rock Festival 2017, where there were Celebrities such as Alice Cooper, Tesla, Vince Neil, among the main ones; and last May they performed in the framework of the Hell & Heaven recital, where legendary bands such as Deep Purple, Scorpions, Judas Priest and Ozzy Osbourne participated. And that’s just to say the least, because their credentials put them in various presentations along the Mexican Republic and United States.

At first glance they look like those girls you meet in a mall, but those who already know and admire them, do not stop feeling respect for the recognition of their undeniable talent, but at the end of the day, it’s the only thing that saves a band from fraud. The Warning has quality and a couple of excellent albums that deserve to be widely recognized by everyone who likes rock n roll. Daniela is the guitarist and lead vocalist; sometimes she runs from one side of the stage to the other and hypnotizes with the agility of her fingers. Alejandra shields herself with the bass to confront a crowd that does not take her eyes off, since she is the youngest of the sisters. Paulina impacts by the force with which she hits the drums, although sometimes only the purple strands of her hair spinning in the air.

-How did you feel before your Performance at H&H Festival?

Daniela: -Very Excited!

Paulina: – A little nervous, but very excited at all!!

Alejandra:  -Very happy to play again here in Mexico City!

Daniela: -It´s our first Festival Performance in Mexico City.

-But before you opened their concert to Def Leppard at the Mexico City Arena. How was that contact with the British band?, Because they themselves sought for this purpose.

Daniela: – That’s right, things happened with great emotion!

Paulina: – Well, they just told us that we would open for them and we were super excited, because it’s a band that we admire a lot. We thought that we would only play in Mexico City, and no, they informed us that it would also be for their shows in Guadalajara and Monterrey.

Alejandra: -It was very funny!, very  incredible!

Daniela: – They only informed us, but we do not know how the contact occurred.

-In social networks, their Fans ask them to play a lot here in the capital and in the United States. Do you already have some dates scheduled for a round of presentations?

Daniela: – We do not have a specific date. In fact, right now we are working on our second album. We are concentrating a lot on that. But of course, we would love to come back here and make more presentations

-You have a great vitality on stage. How do you manage to transform nervousness into energy and download it when you play your music?

Daniela: – I think at the beginning if a lot, a lot of nerve, because till the date, you do not know what will be the reaction of people when you play. But we love what we do and it’s so much fun that I think we forget.

Paulina: – The moment you start playing, the nerves are replaced by adrenaline!, and nothing else you are having fun. At the end you say: «Wow.. Ok!», but at that moment you do not think about anything anymore.

-People is visible from the Stage, can you see it?

Daniela: – No, not until that directly, but if you notice his reaction.

Paulina: – When you’re in an Arena, you can not see anything. Only the first three rows.

Alejandra: -Absolutely, you do not see anything.

Paulina: -When you play outdoors, you see everything. And at the beginning, when you go on stage and when you see all the people, well, it gives you a lot of nerve.

Alejandra: – But it takes off very quickly!

-Then, as soon as they take control of their instruments, their nerves go away!

Paulina: – Yes, exactly!

Daniela: – I think we have more nerve to talk….

Paulina: -…and giving interviews; things like that, than to play!

Alejandra: -Of course…

-Are you talking serious?

Daniela: – Oh, yes!

-I know that their origins are remotely transferred to music camps. Then came the training in classical music and their love for the game of Rock Band, where, incidentally, include one of their first Hits: Free Falling. But first of all, when did you all know that music was your vocation and not a hobby or fun?

Daniela: – I think that was when we got together to make a band.

Paulina: -Yes, because at the beginning, Danny played the guitar separately, as did Alejandra her bass, and I played drums. Until one day we decided to play together in our school. And I think that at that moment, we all think, we have to do this serious.

Alejandra: – It was already when we took the three seriously, and it was all more concrete. It was the moment they became viral on Youtube, right? When you cover the success of Metallica: Enter Sandman.

Daniela: – That´s right.

-And they also played the Ozzy Osbourne song, Crazy Train, on Ellen DeGeneres’ television show. What do you remember about that experience?

Paulina: – It was an incredible experience!

Daniela: – That, I believe, has been the most nervous moment in my life!

Alejandra: – We were trembling! It was a really good experience!

Paulina: -We’ll never forget it. We were really very nervous; at the same time very happy to have been in that program.

Daniela: – And now that I remember, it was quite a while ago … about three years ago.

-Do you remember how many times you tried that song?

Alejandra: – Uuuuy! A jet!

Daniela: – Especially that we would not play the whole song and we had to memorize the cut.

Alejandra: – But we also knew it complete. It was Cool!, it was one of the best experiences we have had.

-Only rock was the genre of your predilection or is there another one that you are attracted to? Since you started with piano and classical music lessons.

Alejandra: – It has always been classical music and rock.

Daniela: – We have always been interested in all kind of music, but when we play it …

Paulina: – … but when playing it together, and when composing, it has always been rock. As we grew up in a very rocky environment; and when we started playing together, we interpreted nothing more than what became natural to us.

Daniela: -A part, the genre is so fun to play live; so energetic.

In the Pleiad of rock, who are your favorite groups?

Daniela: – The Muse and Queen.

Alejandra: – I was going to say the same thing! Also, Pink Floyd!

Paulina: – In my case, My Chemical Romance, AC / DC, finally … there are so many. I really like the rock of the eighties, the nineties. It is a mixture of everything honestly, and of all kind of music.

Daniela: – What I’m going for is that we listen everything.

Alejandra: – But what we like to play, is rock.

– And what genres are vetoed in your tastes?

Daniela: – Reggaeton.

Alejandra: – Reggaeton and Country, would be the only ones.

– Listen, but in Monterrey the North mexican music sounds a lot.

Alejandra: – We do not listen to it very much.

– One aspect that draws my attention is the depth of their lyrics, which also, when translated into our language, increases the essence they contain. There are some deep themes, heartbreaking, others very tender. And I keep asking myself how it is that at their young age they manage to capture these experiences. How do they channel them, are they their own experiences or do they borrow them from other people? How do they do it?

Paulina: – Well, very few songs are from our own experiences.

Alejandra: – Many of what we see around us and inspires us. We read a lot; we watch movies.      They are influences of those themes.

Daniela: – Or simply, we created a story in our head and we got it out there.

Paulina: – Really, it is very rare that we write about our experiences.

Daniela: – Well, there are some that yes … to me if I have been given to write about my experiences.

Paulina: – It seems to me that they are not my own experiences, but well … it’s a balance.

– You really resemble letters written by people with more experience in life. And there lies its impact and notoriety. For example, the other time, I read in social networks the comment of a fan of yours, who said:  «When I’m alone”, has cured me of a depression».

Daniela: – Ohhh!

– Which is something very profound, because of the content of the lyrics.

Paulina: – “When I’m Alone” is one of the few songs that is from our own experiences.

Alejandra: – But it is a balance of everything.

Daniela: – Also, as we compose between the three of us, each one puts her piece of inspiration.

– Now that you mention it, I found out that you compose your songs, first on a piano, and from there you start an idea.

Alejandra: – That’s right.

-Could you explain me better, how does this process occur?

Daniela: – Normally, we have some chords that appear on the piano and we get from there the lyrics.

Paulina: – And when we have the idea already made, we pass it to the guitar.

Alejandra: – And each one of us in her instruments, we play together.

– Have you sacrificed something so far to become exponents of this genre?

Daniela: – Time for friendships, social life, that´s it!: we go out, but it is more difficult.

Paulina: – It’s a sacrifice based on years and years of working and rehearsing every day. Although we are very happy.

Daniela: – And we are very aware that it will be worth it, because it is something that we like a lot and we want to give it everything.

-Some time ago, I interviewed the Mexican pianist Daniela Liebman, who told me that she takes great care of her fingers, which is why she is prohibited from any activity where she may be at risk. It is the reason why she does not participate in sports. The same thing happens in your case?

Alejandra: -Exactly the same.

Paulina: – Same: we have prohibited all sports. If we exercise, but we can not play, for example: Basketball, soccer.

Daniela: – Above all, that in our shows we have to move a lot on stage; we not only use our hands: it is the whole body.

Alejandra: – It’s already happened that we get hurt, and … boom !, we have to stop playing, and you’re all over. Danny once hurt her wrist and was two months without playing.

-How do you perceive the incursion of women in this musical genre? It is easy to be a woman and to venture into rock, to break through?

Daniela: – If you have your difficulties, because I believe that for many people it is a totally male genre. What if; we have worked almost with pure men.

Paulina: – You realize, when we were talking about groups, that I know you pure men; For example, never, we have never worked with a woman on recordings or something like that.

Daniela: – Rock and roll is for everyone; not only for a genre.

Alejandra: – It has difficulties at the beginning; There are stereotypes that need to be broken.

Paulina: – But so far, they have received us well.

– In that sense, have you faced any prejudice of people or sectors in this environment of rock music? Have you come to hear something like: «is that they are women,  that is not possible, I do not like that?»

Daniela: – Not necessarily, although sometimes it happens …

Paulina: – Sometimes they consider us girls:  Sometimes, when we are on stage, there are always looks like asking: «and what are they going to do?

Alejandra: – But after the show, they already take that idea away. Sometimes if there are those prejudices, suddenly.

-Susan Sontag, an American writer, went so far as to say that the 21st century was the century of women; in which they would seek to highlight and affirm their identity. Curiously, your previous album is called XXI Century Blood. How do you perceive the incursion of women in the present century, not only in the musical environment but in the other scenarios of current life?

Daniela: – I believe that women go with everything. They are becoming very aware of all the problems we face. I think it’s our year.

Alejandra: – Exactly, of course, yes.

– You who sing to the youth, what do you think are the main problems your generation faces?

Daniela: – I think technology, but not quite.

Paulina: – Exactly; we must find a balance in technology. At the moment we are in a society where we have everything within reach from a cell phone. We have these rules that we must follow, these messages that tell us that we must be such people to fit. And that is something difficult to cope with: the idea of responding to certain stereotypes that, for example, for us was: «Do not play rock». That’s why we can say: Do what you want, but give it a go, give it time.

Alejandra: -… and never give up.

Paulina: – Exactly.

– Please, a final message that you wish to send to your followers of the Mexican capital:

Paulina: – Well, any activity you want to do, no matter what people tell you, then do it. No matter how many years they have; really, if you feel like it, you can get somewhere. And also, keep doing what you really want.

Daniela: – And very important: that they also trust in themselves.

Alejandra: – That they believe in their objectives to achieve them and take the opportunity to thank them for their support.

– We will be looking forward to your next album, I hope it is just as good as the previous productions.

Paulina: – It’s going to be better !, yiuuuu!

Daniela: – Sure, yes!

Alejandra: – Sure!

The Warning will be presented on November 25 of this year in the Lunario of the National Auditorium of Mexico City. They will interpret their successes and tell anecdotes to their followers. We recommend you not miss the opportunity to get to know this group that grows day by day and becomes a benchmark for quality in the music scene. You were warned!
